Fawn Caught In The Mire, New Rochelle Firefighters Come To The Rescue
Spoiler Alert: This dramatic rescue had a happy ending and a reunion with an extremely grateful mama deer.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — The dramatic rescue took place in brackish water on the Sound Shore on Thursday, but the training for just this sort of emergency started long ago.
New Rochelle firefighters were called to help a little fawn in big trouble.
Fire officials said on social media that after about an hour, they were able to safely remove the deer from the mud and reunite it with its concerned mother, who was watching from a nearby thicket.

"It's not every day we get a call for a baby deer stuck in a swamp," the New Rochelle Fire Department wrote in a social media post, following the dramatic rescue. "However, NRFD members, with their training and expertise, were able to effectively make the rescue. Mother standing by, relieved to have her baby back. Bravo, Zulu Squad 3, Rescue 4 with Tower Ladder 11, Engine 21 and Car 2302."
