4.5 Pounds Pot, 23 Pounds Cannabis Found After Westchester Man Reported At Car With Broken Window: NRPD

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A broken car window led police in New Rochelle to illicit cargo, according to police.

A 22-year-old Yonkers man was arrested Tuesday evening after officers responding to a suspicious vehicle report on North Avenue found large amounts of cannabis inside a rental car, according to NRPD.

At about 5:25 p.m., officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on North Avenue. The vehicle was described as a black sedan with a broken passenger-side window and a man was leaning into the car. It was initially unclear whether the vehicle had been forcibly entered or whether the person was trying to get into his own vehicle.

Responding officers made contact with Joseph Fasce at the scene. Fasce told officers he was unsure how the window had been broken and produced documents showing the vehicle was a rental assigned to him.

During that interaction, officers noticed what was described as "a substantial quantity of marijuana and concentrated cannabis packaging" inside the vehicle. Police said that the amount of cannabis visible was significantly above legal possession limits.

Fasce was in possession of about 23 pounds of concentrated cannabis and 4.5 pounds of marijuana, according to police. He was detained, told officers the cannabis was for personal use, and was then arrested, according to NRPD.

Fasce was charged with felony criminal possession of cannabis.
