Fight Between Downtown Construction Workers Ends In Stabbing: NRPD

A Brooklyn man was arrested on felony charge after his wounded co-worker staggered past an officer directing construction site traffic.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A dispute between construction workers in downtown New Rochelle led to one of the workers ending up in the hospital after being stabbed.

On Friday, just after 11 a.m., a New Rochelle police officer on a traffic post at the intersection of Division Street and Westchester Place noticed a man walking nearby who was in apparent distress and suffering from a stab wound.

The officer quickly rendered aid and called for an ambulance for the victim, who was taken to the hospital.

An investigation revealed that the victim, a local construction worker, was involved in a physical altercation with a co-worker and was stabbed during the dispute. Detectives located the suspect in the stabbing and took him into custody.

Taajwar Guerrier of Brooklyn was arrested this afternoon. The 30-year-old is charged with felony assault and a misdemeanor count of illegal possession of a weapon.

The victim’s name is being withheld. He is listed in serious, but stable condition, according to officials.
