Flash Flood Warning For Southern, Central Westchester
The region could get 3 inches of rain this week.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning and more for southern and central Westchester.
At 1257 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Some locations that will experience flooding include... Yonkers, Stamford, New Rochelle, White Plains, Mott Haven, East Tremont, Port Chester, New Canaan, Rye, Mount Kisco, Harlem, Greenwich, Riverdale, Co-op City and Harrison.
In addition, coastal flooding is expected along the south Westchester coast. A flood advisory is out for much of northern Westchester plus Rockland County.
