Flood And Hazardous Weather Outlooks For Hudson Valley

Breaking: In addition to severe thunderstorms and coastal flooding, hail and tornadoes are also possible, according to the NWS.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Southern Westchester County and Hazardous Weather Outlooks for Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties.

The Coastal Flood Statement for Southern Westchester County and Southern Fairfield County, CT, is in effect from 10 p.m. this evening through 2 a.m. late tonight. Up to one half-foot of inundation above ground level is expected in vulnerable areas along the waterfront and shoreline. Similar conditions are likely to occur again during high tide on Monday night. Motorists are warned to not drive through flooded roadways.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook for southeast New York, southern Connecticut and northeast New Jersey predicts thunderstorms ahead of an approaching cold front on Monday with the potential to produce damaging winds. Large hail and an isolated tornado are also possible.

The Hazardous Weather Outlook for eastern New York calls for scattered, non-severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has given eastern New York an Enhanced Risk for severe thunderstorms on Monday, while a strong cold front tracks through the region during the afternoon and evening. The main threat to be expected will be damaging wind gusts, but isolated occurrences of large hail are also possible.
