Former New Rochelle Mayor Ruskin Dies
Ruskin was living in Stamford, CT, at the time of his death.

Former Mayor Alvin R. Ruskin of Stamford, CT., formerly of New Rochelle, died Thursday at in hospice at the age of 95.
Ruskin, a Republican, was mayor of New Rochelle during the 1960s and was a Westchester Family and County Court Judge and a state Supreme Court Justice.
He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia and is survived by William Ruskin and Christine Barker and Nancy Ruskin and Daniel Castleman and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Temple Israel of New Rochelle, 1000 Pinebrook Blvd, in New Rochelle.
William O’Shaughnessy, president and editorial director of WVOX, called Ruskin an outstanding public servant.

"In fact, I put Alvin Ruskin right up there with Mario Cuomo, Nelson Rockefeller, Malcolm Wilson, Jacob K. Javits, Hugh Carey, Ed Michaelean, Sam Fredman, Tony Colavita, Dick Daronco and Daniel Patrick Moynihan," O'Shaughnessy said.
