FREE certifications & training program
For 16-24 year olds from New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, & Yonkers
With seemingly no end to the development projects popping up throughout Westchester County, many young people are thinking about starting a career in construction. The problem? They don’t know how or where to start. The solution: FutureWorks, a FREE certifications and training program for people ages 16-24 years old. FutureWorks has been available for New Rochelle and Mount Vernon residents for a year, and it is now available for Yonkers residents.
“In just four weeks, participants can complete up to eight certifications and the relevant training needed to start their year – and their future – on a new path,” says Amrika Sieunarine, the director of the Center for College & Careers at The Guidance Center of Westchester. The agency has been providing FutureWorks for the past year for residents of Mount Vernon and New Rochelle. This year, the grant funding has expanded to include Yonkers residents.
In addition to the certifications and training, participants take part in hands-on job experiences, resume building workshops, and employment fairs.
