Free Tax Prep Assistance At New Rochelle Library
Tax advisors will be available on a drop-in, first-come, first-served basis.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Free tax help will be offered at the New Rochelle Public Library beginning Tuesday, Feb. 4. The tax assistance is through TCE, the Tax Counseling for the Elderly program and VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
Trained AARP volunteer counselors will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday through April 14.
The sessions will be held in the library's Meeting Room and on the stage of the theater, except Feb. 18 and 20 and April 7 and 9 when they will be held in the Community Gallery.

Tax filers are advised to arrive early, because they will meet with a tax advisor on a drop-in, first-come, first-served basis.
The line forms at the Lawton Street entrance, and the library opens at 9 a.m. on these days.

The TCE tax assistance program is free. Tax preparers have all the necessary forms to complete e-filing.
Participants should brings last year's return and supporting documentation, along with an official photo identification and a Social Security card or other comparable documentation.
When applicable, the following should also be brought to the session: W-2 and W-2P forms from each employer, if a salary was earned; unemployment compensation statements; SSA-1099 form if Social Security benefits were received; all 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-misc., etc.) showing interest and/or dividends and original purchase price of sold assets; 1099R form from the payer of your pension or annuity; all forms indicating federal income tax paid; childcare provider information (name, employer ID, Social Security number); and Social Security numbers for all dependents.
