UPDATE: Partial Amtrak Service Restored After Freight Car Derailment in the Bronx
Service between New York and Connecticut has been affected.

Partial service has been restored to Amtrak between New York City and Connecticut after a freight train derailment Wednesday morning.
News 12 said partial service was restored around 12:30 p.m. and up to 90 minutes delays can be expected due to trains going through the area at slower speeds.

Eight empty freight cars derailed around 9:15 a.m. in the Oak Point rail yard, and no injuries were reported, newyork.cbslocal.com said.
Amtrak customers are being told to switch to Metro North to continue their journey because one of Amtrak’s tracks was blocked by the derailed freight cars, abc7ny.com said, and service has been suspended.
