Glen Island Car Show Roars Back To Life After Year In The Pits

The free event will bring street rods, classic cars and motorcycles in mint condition to vie for trophies and bragging rights.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Now that the National Guard and the COVID-19 testing tents are gone, the hot rods, muscle cars and classic autos of the Westchester County Car Show are free to roll on to Glen Island once again.

The show will feature displays of a wide array of lovingly souped-up roadsters and motorcycles, all carefully restored to mint condition or modified for performance. Westchester Street Rod Association will present more than 100 trophies to the best vehicles.

Car enthusiasts can join in the fun by entering their own pimped-out rides in this year's show. Registration is $20 per entry and will be open from 9 a.m. to noon on the day of the event.

“I’m excited to welcome back the Westchester County Car Show to Glen Island Park as last year it was unable to be held due to the COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at Glen Island," Westchester County Executive George Latimer said. "Bringing back our annual events is another indicator of a return to normalcy — which is because people are getting vaccinated and continuing to get tested. This is how we come back.”

The Westchester County Car Show takes place Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle. Admission is free for spectators, but parking is $5. The show will be canceled in the event of rain.
