Glen Island Park Will Host This Summer's Westchester Senior Dance Party

The free event in New Rochelle open to all seniors in Westchester County will include a DJ, dance lessons, lunch and parking.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY — Grab your dance card, the senior social event of the season is coming to the seashore.

Westchester County's departments of Senior Programs and Services and Parks, Recreation and Conservation are set to host a Senior Dance Party at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The event will be held at the park on Weyman Avenue and is open to all seniors. County officials said attendees are being invited to take part in a dance-focused day at the waterfront park.

The event is being organized by the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services, also known as DSPS, along with Westchester County Parks, Recreation and Conservation. The county said the free program will include a live DJ, dance lessons and a complimentary lunch.

Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Senior Programs and Services Mae Carpenter said, “The best dance partners are laughter, friendship and great music. A little music, a little movement, and good company can turn strangers into friends.”

Reservations are required for the event, but admission is free. The county also said complimentary parking at Glen Island Park will be available for those attending.
