NEW ROCHELLE, NY — There is a surprising amount of fun to be had a new swim school that takes water safety very seriously.

Goldfish Swim School's new 9,000 square foot learn-to-swim facility is now open in New Rochelle. The new school began welcoming learning swimmers into the pool this month.

In addition to the serious fun of swim lessons, Goldfish has a decidedly more leisurely side as well. Weekly family swims, party packages, a snack bar, shopping and tropical décor make the prospect of swim lessons much more of a "want to" than a "have to" family activity.

A mix of fun and rigor is very much the model Goldfish is becoming famous for, co-owner Gillian Graves explained.

"As parents of three little boys, we understand how important water safety is to all families and we know that kids benefit from participating in learn-to-swim programs from an early age," Graves said. "We are thrilled to bring the Goldfish curriculum, high quality instruction and state-of-the-art facility to more local families with this additional facility. Our team wants to ensure that children have a safe, fun, and friendly place to learn how to swim."

The new swim school, located at 14 Weyman Ave. in New Rochelle, offers indoor, year-round swim instruction for children ages 4 months to 12 years old. The school prides itself in offering a safe, family-friendly setting with highly trained instructors. Small class sizes with a maximum 4 to 1 student to teacher ratio are a big part of that pledge.

Goldfish Swim School’s proprietary curriculum, known as "The Science of SwimPlay," is designed to help to build life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning in a fun and safe environment, according to the school's founders.

Goldfish also uses a perpetual lesson model so families can enroll at any time and kids progress through the curriculum at their own pace. Goldfish offers flexible scheduling options so that families can easily book makeup classes when necessary.

Amenities at the new facility include an air-conditioned viewing gallery for parents to watch lessons, individual/private changing rooms, a blow dry station, "shiver-free" 90-degree pools, and a state-of-the-art water purification system.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that children participate in regular, high quality swim lessons starting at age one. Goldfish Swim Schools have implemented rigorous COVID-19 safety protocols in all of their facilities to help make this possible under less than ideal circumstances. The school said their "Safer. Stronger. Together." initiative is designed to ensure the safest environment possible for staff, families and budding swimmers.

Families in the Bronx and southern Westchester County can register for lessons now by visiting the Goldfish Swim School website or calling 914-359-5757.
