Gunshot Enters Apartment Through Floor, Downstairs Neighbor Arrested
The victim, who was not hurt, told cops she heard the shot around 12:30 a.m., but did not see the damage until later.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle woman is lucky to have escaped serious injury after a bullet was fired into her apartment from the unit below, according to police.
On Sunday, shortly before 7 p.m., New Rochelle police were called to Beechwood Avenue on a report that a gunshot had come through the floor of an apartment from the apartment below. The complainant told police she heard the shot around 12:30 a.m., but did not see the damage until later.
NRPD detectives quickly got a search warrant for the apartment below, where detectives found a defaced 9mm Ruger handgun with five live rounds of ammunition.

The owner of the gun was arrested.
Police said there were no injuries as a result of the shooting. The suspect did not tell police how or why the gun was fired.

Javier Lopez, 34, of New Rochelle, was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, felony reckless endangerment and felony criminal possession of a weapon defaced for concealment.
