Gust Front Approaching: NOAA Marine Weather Statement

The National Weather Service reports that a gust front capable of producing winds in excess of 30 knots is being tracked on Doppler Radar.

LONG ISLAND SOUND, NY — A gust front is approaching the waters of the Long Island Sound.

The front was spotted in a line stretching from north of Captain Harbor to northwest of Eastchester Bay. The storm is moving east at 15 knots.

A marine weather statement issued by the National Weather service was issued at 6:53 p.m. The gust front is expected to reach Mamaroneck Harbor and Execution Rocks close to 8:00 p.m. Boaters should be prepared for gusty winds and high waves.

Boaters should immediately seek safe harbor until the storm front has passed.

The front will reach Captain Harbor, Hampstead Harbor and Baxter Estates by 8:20 p.m, Stamford Harbor by 8:35 p.m. and the Norwalk Islands by 8:45 p.m., according to forecasters.
