Gusts of Up to 50 MPH As Cold Front Moves Into Region: NWS

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A cold front is blowing its way into the Hudson Valley, causing the National Weather Service to issue a special weather statement.

Strong gusty winds are following a line of showers as a cold front makes its way across the region. There is potential for wind gusts up to 45 to 50 mph, according to the NWS. These strong wind gusts could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, as well as impact high profile vehicles, according to the special weather statement.

Forecasters say the strongest gusts will occur before midnight behind a line of showers, with winds calming and temperatures dropping across the Hudson Valley. Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange counties will all see strong winds. New York City, parts of Long Island, New Jersey and Southern Connecticut will also be affected.
