Heavy Rains, Thunderstorms, Possible Flooding: Hudson Valley's Memorial Day Weather Forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Hudson Valley from Westchester up to Dutchess counties.

A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for all of Hudson Valley for Memorial Day as tropical rains that could include some strong to severe thunderstorms may produce localized flooding on Monday.

Just a couple of days ago, the forecast called for showers to begin possibly in the afternoon Monday, which may have made the weather salvageable for all of the planned outdoor Memorial Day events, remembrances and parades.

Now the rain is actually forecast to begin around midnight Sunday and continue throughout the day on Memorial Day, which could produce up to 2 inches or more in spots in Westchester County.

The Hazardous Weather Outlooks are for Dutchess and Ulster and Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

And we still have an Air Quality Alert to get through Sunday. However, it seems we won’t have to worry about the AQI being elevated on Monday because of all the rain.
