Help Place 3,000 American Flags Ahead Of 9-11 Anniversary
New Rochelle is seeking volunteers to prepare the lawn of New Rochelle City Hall to mark 20 years since the September 11, terror attacks.
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The 20 years that have passed since the U.S. homeland was attacked on September 11, have not erased the poignancy of the date from our collective memory.
A celebration remembering those who sacrificed, those who perished and the resiliency of a nation are just around the corner, but preparations have already started. The City of New Rochelle, in conjunction with the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association, are seeking volunteers to place 3,000 American flags on the front lawn of New Rochelle City Hall ahead of the planned "We Remember" ceremony.
Volunteers are needed to install flags August 24, 25 and 26, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The candlelight ceremony (an inter-faith service) will be held on the lawn beginning at 7:30 p.m. on September 11. The remembrance will be held in the council chambers in the event of inclement weather.
