Homeless Man Arraigned For Murder Of Homeless Woman

Authorities said she died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A homeless man has been arraigned in the murder of a homeless woman in New Rochelle. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Jose F. Olmos, 28, who has no permanent address, was charged with second-degree murder, a felony, when he appeared in New Rochelle City Court Monday.

The felony complaint alleges that between 3:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 27, Olmos killed Nurten Seljuk, 66, who also had no permanent address, in the vicinity of 270 Main St. in New Rochelle.

Her body was found early Friday morning in the driveway of the former Armory building.

Olmos was arrested Saturday, July 28. He is being held in custody to appear in New Rochelle City Court for a felony hearing Friday, Aug. 3.
