Iona College to Broadcast Games Via ESPN from New Rochelle

Students will get hands-on professional-level broadcast experience.

Iona College in New Rochelle has entered into a partnership with ESPN to produce and broadcast its athletic events live.

Men’s and women’s basketball games will be broadcast on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN platform beginning in February, with women’s lacrosse beginning in the spring.

Spokeswoman Dawn Insanalli said additional sports will be added in the fall.

College President Joseph Nyre said this was great news for the entire Iona community.

“Our teams merit the additional exposure, but just as valuable is the opportunity for students to get hands-on professional broadcast experience at the highest levels,” he said.

Iona is in the process of assembling a portable production and editing studio to support a multi-camera telecast in high definition.

State-of-the-art equipment from such companies as Ross Video, NewTek, Hitachi and Clear-Com will be utilized.

ESPN3 is ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, which is available online at WatchESPN.com or on mobile devices via the WatchESPN app.
