UPDATE: Student Shot, Killed, Iona College Issues Statement

An arrest has been made, and the college has issued a statement.

UPDATE—Monday, April 4, 2016, 1:05 p.m.: Iona College released a statement about Brandon Lawrence, who was shot and killed Sunday in New Rochelle.

"The Iona community is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of an Iona student resulting from a shooting early Sunday morning at a New Rochelle city park. The College is coordinating support services directly with students, faculty and staff and has been advised there is no related danger to the campus community.”

A New Rochelle man was charged in the shooting death of an Iona College student Sunday in Lincoln Park.

Stivenson Desir, 19, was arrested for allegedly killing Brandon Lawrence, 18, of Yonkers, according to lohud.com.

Multiple gunshots were reported coming from the park in the early hours of Sunday morning.
