Iona Prep Basketball Star Matthew Ryan to Sign Letter of Intent to Play for Notre Dame

In his Sophomore year at the New Rochelle-based school, Ryan averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds per game.

Matthew Ryan, a star shooting guard for the Iona Prep basketball team, will sign a letter of intent Wednesday to play for Notre Dame, Iona Prep announced.

Ryan, a Cortlandt Manor resident, had selected Notre Dame over the summer, according to the New York Post, but Wednesday’s ceremony will be a more formal acknowledgement.

“Notre Dame is the perfect fit for Matt, both academically and athletically, with its excellent academic reputation and storied basketball program that plays in the top conference in the country,” said Iona coach Vic Quirolo in a statement. “We all look forward to Matt having an outstanding career at Notre Dame.”
