Iona Prep Graduates 196 Seniors

The seniors earned more than $29 million in merit scholarships.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Iona Preparatory School held its 99th Commencement Exercises on Thursday, May 24, at Iona College in New Rochelle. A total of 196 seniors graduated, having earned more than $29 million in merit scholarships, with an average award of $60,300. Of note, 7,500 service hours were amassed in senior year alone.

Visa CEO Alfred F. Kelly Jr., a member of the Class of 1976 and a parent of sons in the 2005 and 2012 graduating classes, received the Alumni Award and spoke to the graduates about choices and consequences; specifically, the choice to take Iona Prep with them as they enter the next phases of their lives.

“I would strongly suggest that Iona Prep has gifted to you a number of great treasures: friends, values, study habits and Christ,” Kelly, a Rye resident, said. “All four of these gifts, sounds like to me, are gifts that keep on giving … and can be with you the rest of your life.”
