Larchmont, New Rochelle Sewage Overflows Cost County $10K

The county will pay a $10,000 fine and work to eliminate the problem.

Westchester County and the New York Department of Environmental Conservation have reached a settlement concerning sewage overflows from Larchmont and New Rochelle, The Journal News reports.

The county will pay a $10,000 fine and work to eliminate the problem at those two facilities, and others in Mamaroneck and Pelham Manor. Improvements must be made by 2019 or the county could face additional penalties.

County officials recently were sued by the water conservation group Save the Sound for what it considers the sewage system’s poor performance.
