Press release from the Village of Larchmont:
HELP PLAN FOR LARCHMONT'S FUTURE AND
APPLY FOR THE COMMERCIAL AREA PLAN COMMITTEE
This past July the Village Board passed two resolutions to support the creation of a Commercial Area Plan for Larchmont’s business districts. Our intent is to create a Commercial Area Plan that reflects the community’s vision and will serve as a blueprint for future development and conservation in Larchmont’s Commercial Areas. It will include the physical and economic development of these areas, considering public spaces, mixed land uses, a range of housing opportunities, resiliency to climate change, green infrastructure, diversity, mobility, and other social, ecological, and regional concerns.

The Village considers public participation to be a critical element of the development process for the Commercial Area Plan. Therefore the project will be guided by a volunteer advisory Commercial Area Plan Committee (CAPC) appointed by the Mayor and Board of Trustees, comprising members that broadly represent the community. Committee members will be tasked with gathering data and reviewing documents, taking surveys, holding public meetings to solicit feedback, and setting up sub-committees as necessary to address specific topics of concern to stakeholders. An experienced planning consultant will be retained to work with the CAPC, Village Board and Village Staff on this project.
It is expected that the CAPC will hold monthly meetings, with the potential for additional meetings when necessary, and that the entire process should take between 12 to 18 months.

We are calling for Village residents to volunteer to serve on the CAPC. We are looking for individuals who have skill sets that would be helpful with respect to creating the Commercial Area Plan and are seeking to include representatives from a large range of ethnic, social, and cultural backgrounds. Some of the skill sets that would be beneficial include individuals with a background in architecture, planning, geology, business development, environmental science, or real estate.
If you are interested in serving on the CAPC, please use this link to complete the google form. We will be accepting applications through 5pm on October 22.
