Leadership Team Expands at United Hebrew

With the expansion of United Hebrew's New Rochelle eldercare campus come new hires.

It’s been an amazing decade for United Hebrew of New Rochelle, which has expanded its nursing home, launched a certified home health agency, and opened a new residence to care for individuals with memory impairment and house low-income seniors. To continue this momentum, Rita Mabli, United Hebrew’s president and CEO, today announced two new staff appointments: John Zeiss will serve as the Administrator of United Hebrew’s nursing home, and Christine Sanders has stepped into the position of Vice President, Administration.

“These two seasoned professionals will help us forge ahead in the development of our campus,” says Mabli. “Most important, they both bring compassion and a focus on quality to their roles, which helps ensure an outstanding experience for our residents and their families.”

An industry veteran for more than 30 years, Zeiss’ expertise spans healthcare leadership, clinical services, regulatory compliance, strategic planning and budgeting, and facility operations. During his stellar career, he served in a variety of executive roles, most recently as nursing home administrator and interim CEO of Isabella Geriatric Center, a 700-bed facility in New York City, where he directed facility-wide quality management initiatives, among other responsibilities. “I’ve worked in this field for decades because I love it,” he says.

Zeiss works closely with senior populations, something he says he enjoys tremendously. “We’re performing a valuable service that helps people,” he says. “It’s so rewarding to see residents who are comfortable, well-cared for, happy, and living with purpose. The engagement I’ve had with the residents here at United Hebrew has already been tremendously satisfying.”

A resident of New Rochelle since 1985, Zeiss said he knew of United Hebrew’s fine reputation and jumped at the chance to work there. “I’ve always heard about the good experiences locals have had with the staff here, and Rita Mabli is a well-known leader in the field. I look forward to working with her and the entire nursing home staff to maintain the level of exceptional care we provide to our residents.”

Christine Sanders began her career at United Hebrew in 2012 as an intern in the Office of the President. Since then, she has obtained her nursing home administrator’s license and served in a variety of roles, with progressive responsibility. A graduate of Iona College, with a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in health care management, Sanders was instrumental in the planning and construction phases of United Hebrew’s new memory care residence, Willow Gardens, and senior housing complex, Meadow Lane Apartments.

Mabli holds Sanders in high regard, and says her promotion to vice president is in recognition of her professional abilities and her commitment to United Hebrew’s philosophy of care and nonprofit mission.

“We selected Christine for this new role because of her proven track record in supporting the complex daily operation of our multi-faceted healthcare organization,” notes Mabli. “She also brings knowledge and expertise in ensuring compliance and navigating evolving federal regulations. She will be a vital part of our leadership team as we enhance our support for seniors on our campus and in the community. “
