Library Budget Up for Vote Tuesday in New Rochelle
The size of the budget went down from 2015-16.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - When New Rochelle residents go to the polls Tuesday, May 17 to vote on the school district budget for 2016-17, they will also be asked to approve a budget for the New Rochelle Public Library and select new trustees.
The library’s budget will actually decrease if it is approved.
The proposed spending plan is for $5,139,484 for 2016-17, down from $5,240,408 in 2015-16, according to a report on the library’s website.

An increase of 2.58 percent in the tax levy equals an increase of $124,075.

New Rochelle’s city finance department estimated the increase constitutes an annual increase of $8.33 per household for the average taxpayer.
Also on the ballot are three candidates in uncontested races for three vacancies.
The candidates are Dierdra Gray Clark, Yadira Ramos-Herbert and Gregory T. Varian.
There is a five-year term, a three-year term and a one-year term. The three-year and one-year terms are unexpired portion of a full five-year term.
The number of votes each person receives will determine which term they will serve.
The polls in New Rochelle are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
