Library Sets The Stage With A Full Lineup Of Juneteenth Events
The fitting art and music events on tap are part of New Rochelle's Juneteenth Celebration presented by The Lincoln Park Conservancy.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle's citywide Juneteenth Celebration has become one of the most significant cultural events of the summer and the New Rochelle Public Library is once again helping to lead the way.
The New Rochelle Public Library is hosting several Juneteenth programs this month as part of the New Rochelle citywide Juneteenth Celebration presented by The Lincoln Park Conservancy and the City of New Rochelle.
On Thursday, June 15, from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m, African rhythms and culture will be brought to life in a multi-generational African Drumming workshop, led by Master Drummer Kazi Oliver, who has been teaching and performing for over 54 years. He has performed in many places, including the Village Vanguard, the Museum of Modern Art, and on ABC’s "The View." All ages are encouraged to attend. Registration is requested and can be done here. At 6:30 p.m., guests will be able to enjoy an inspiring African Drumming concert featuring Kazi and his band. Registration is requested and can be done here.

On Saturday, June 17, at 5 p.m., the Global Jazz Community All-Star Women Band will perform live in the Ossie Davis Theater. This all-female ensemble, featuring Camille Gainer, Mimi Jones, Clarissa Sinceno and Dinah Vero, will perform selections by Billy Taylor, Bobby Timmons and others. In addition, a "History Out Loud" exhibit, presented by The Lincoln Park Conservancy and the City of New Rochelle, will be on display in the Lumen Winter Gallery through June 25.

All programs will take place at the New Rochelle Public Library, located at 1 Library Plaza. All events are free and open to the public.
