Liz Fried Defeats Shari Rackman in New Rochelle City Council Primary

In the end, it was not very close.

New Rochelle Democrats in District 6 Thursday overwhelmingly chose Liz Fried as the party’s nominee for the City Council, according to unofficial primary election results.

Fried handily defeated opponent Shari Rackman by a two-to-one vote margin, 489 to 239, or 67 percent to 33 percent.

Prior to Thursday’s primary, the two squared off before the county’s Fair Campaign Practices Committee where Rackman also lost a complaint over Fried’s use of the term “endorsed by the Democratic party” in her campaign literature.

The committee found that Fried’s use of the term was fair, prompting Fried to thank the committee and blast Rackman for launching “increasingly bizarre and inflammatory” attacks.
