Man With Knife Barricaded Inside Of Home Broke Stay Away Order: NRPD

The 35-year-old is accused of assaulting a woman he knew, before barricading himself in a bedroom and refusing to respond to police.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A brief standoff with police ended peacefully when a 35-year-old involved in a violent incident at a New Rochelle home surrendered last night, police said.

On Tuesday, shortly after 11 p.m., New Rochelle police responded to a domestic dispute at an apartment on Eastchester Road. Eduardo Valencia-Maldonado is accused of assaulting a woman he knew, before barricading himself in a bedroom with a knife.

Police were initially unable to get a response from Valencia-Maldonado, but he eventually surrendered without incident and was arrested. He is charged with felony criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.
