White Plains Man Pulled From LI Sound Near New Rochelle Harbor

New Rochelle Harbor Patrol immediately began life-saving measures on the unresponsive man, who was later pronounced dead.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — On Thursday, around 5:30 p.m., the New Rochelle Police Harbor Patrol received a report that a man was seen floating in the water near the channel leading from New Rochelle Marina in Echo Bay to the Long Island Sound.

Once police arrived on the scene, they found the man who was unconscious and unresponsive. Officers pulled him onto the police boat and began life-saving measures, while at the same time taking him to shore for transport to a hospital.

The man was ultimately pronounced dead.

Police say that the investigation is ongoing and that foul play is not suspected, pending the medical examiner's results.

The dead man was identified by police as 62-year-old Jose Sanabria of White Plains.
