Marlies' Artbeat: Hurray! Met Opera will have a Live-at-the-Movies Season

After incredibly suspenseful negotiations, the Met Opera, and all its unions, have reached agreements.

After past-the-last-minute, super-complicated negotiations, the Metropolitan Opera and its 16 unions seem to have reached tentative agreements. I say “seem to,” because some (although totally expected to comply) still have to fall into line.

It was a true cliffhanger, with the Met’s adamant management threatening a not-unprecedented Lock-out, that might have shut down the Met for its entire season.

So the Live-at-the-Met-in-HD-at-the-Movies will be in full swing across the entire planet. So hurry, for the coveted tickets for Verdi’s Macbeth(October 11, 2014) at your usual Movie venue! I gather many had the faith to secure theirs already.

Note: There will be no HD transmission on Nov. 15, but Rossini’s The Barber of Seville is substitute on Nov. 22nd.
