Meet The Candidates: New Rochelle League Of Women Voters Forum Slated

The Democratic primary candidates forum will be broadcast live from the City Council Chambers in City Hall.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — There may be no better way to learn about the candidates vying for their party's nomination than by seeing them in person and hearing about their positions from their own mouths. Thanks to The League of Women Voters of New Rochelle, we will all have that opportunity ahead of Election Day.

The League of Women Voters of New Rochelle will host a Candidates Forum on Monday, June 12, at 6 p.m. for contested seats in the Democratic party primary election. The forum will take place in the City Council Chambers in City Hall.

The Forum will also be live-streamed on Optimum cable channel 75 and Verizon cable channel 28 and recorded for replay.

  • Competing for the Democratic nomination for New Rochelle Mayor are District 3 Councilwoman Yadira Ramos-Herbert and County District 10 Legislator Damon Maher.
  • Competing for the Democratic nomination for the New Rochelle District 3 City Council seat are Lianne Merchant, David Peters, Kwamain Dixon and Margaret Chadwick.
  • Competing for the Democratic nomination for New Rochelle District 4 City Council seat are Ivar Hyden (incumbent) and Shane Osinloye.
  • Competing for the Westchester County Legislative District 11 seat are Terry Clements (incumbent) and challenger Ximena Francella.

Members of the public can submit questions for the forum participants ahead to lwvnewrochelle@gmail.org. A trained moderator from outside New Rochelle will moderate the forum.

The primary election will be on Tuesday, June 27 in the City Hall annex. Early voting will begin on June 17.

The Republican Party does not have any contested primary races.
