Metro-North Offers Expanded Service During New Year’s Eve Weekend

Trains will run continuously after New Year's Eve, Metro-North said.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Metro-North has your ticket to a safe and convenient way to travel during the New Year’s Eve weekend. The railroad is offering expanded service to and from Grand Central Terminal all day long on Sunday, December 31 and into the wee hours for New Year's Eve for celebrants traveling to the Big Apple to ring in 2018.

Metro-North reminds customers that drinking alcohol on trains and at our stations is banned from noon New Year's Eve until noon New Year's Day. The railroad encourages customers traveling to New York to purchase round-trip tickets before boarding Grand Central Terminal bound trains. On the night of New Year’s Eve, tickets will be collected prior to boarding trains at Grand Central Terminal.

Friday, December 29:

Metro-North will operate 17 extra Getaway trains between 12:58 p.m. and 4:11 p.m., and some trains after 5:00 pm will be combined or cancelled.

  • 1:38 p.m., making stops at Peekskill, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.
  • 2:38 p.m., making stops at Peekskill, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.
  • 3:11 p.m., making stops at Tarrytown, Philipse Manor, Scarborough, Ossining and Croton-Harmon.
  • 3:45 p.m., making stops at Peekskill, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.
  • 4:11 p.m., making stops at Peekskill, Beacon, New Hamburg and Poughkeepsie.

    Croton Falls, Brewster and Southeast.

New Haven Line:

  • 12:58 p.m. making stops at Westport, Fairfield, Fairfield Metro, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, West Haven and New Haven.
  • 2:01 p.m. making stops at Westport, Fairfield, Fairfield Metro, Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, West Haven and New Haven.

Metro-North will operate an additional inbound train on the Hudson Line and an additional inbound train on the New Haven Line.

  • 6:34 p.m., out of Poughkeepsie, making stops at New Hamburg, Beacon, Peekskill, Croton-Harmon, Ossining, Tarrytown and Grand Central Terminal

New Haven Line, Westbound

  • 6:07 p.m. from New Haven, stopping at West Haven, then Bridgeport and Stamford, with connecting train service to Grand Central Terminal

New Year’s Day, Monday, January 1

Metro-North will operate on a Sunday schedule. Service will also be provided overnight and into the wee hours of New Year’s morning to get you safely home from New York City as follows

Hudson Line, Northbound:

  • 12:38 a.m. making all station stops from Croton-Harmon to Poughkeepsie.
  • 12:42 a.m., making all station stops from Yankees-E. 153rd Street to Croton-Harmon.

  • 1:20 a.m., making all station stops from Yankees-E. 153rd Street to Croton-Harmon.
  • 1:50 a.m., making all station stops from Croton-Harmon to Poughkeepsie.
  • 1:55 a.m., making all station stops from Yankees-E. 153rd Street to Croton-Harmon
  • 2:30 a.m., making stops at Spuyten Duyvil, Riverdale, Yonkers, Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown, Scarborough, Ossining, and all stops between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie.
  • 3:00 a.m., making all station stops from Marble Hill to Croton-Harmon.

West of Hudson Lines:

On the West of Hudson Lines, a regular weekend schedule will operate, with an additional
inbound train from Port Jervis and additional outbound service to Port Jervis and Spring Valley
after midnight.

Pascack Valley Line:

  • 1:24 a.m. from Hoboken, making all stops to Spring Valley. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 1:18 am train and transfer at Secaucus Junction.
  • 3:45 a.m. from Hoboken, making all stops to Spring Valley. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 3:39 am train and transfer at Secaucus Junction. Note that the 12:45 a.m. train departing Hoboken will not operate on New Year’s Eve.

Port Jervis Line:

Eastbound:

  • 4:09 p.m. from Port Jervis making all stops to Suffern, then Secaucus Junction and Hoboken. Change trains at Secaucus Junction for service to Penn Station New York.

Westbound:

  • 1:27 a.m. from Hoboken, making all stops to Port Jervis. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 1:18 am train and transfer at Secaucus Junction
  • 3:00 a.m. from Hoboken, making all stops to Port Jervis. Passengers from Penn Station New York should board the 2:50 am train and transfer at Secaucus Junction.
