MTA to Add 'Getaway' Service for Long Labor Day Weekend Start

There will also be service changes to Monday's schedule.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has announced its plans for Metro-North service for the long Labor Day weekend.

Extra service will be provided for Friday, September 2.

All MTA services will operate on reduced schedules for Labor Day—Monday, September 5.

Metro-North will offer 17 extra afternoon trains for Friday departing Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

There will be one extra departure from Hoboken on the Port Jervis Line, with connecting service from Penn Station.

Officials said that to allow the railroad to add the extra service, 11 trains that normally leave Grand Central between 5:27 p.m. and 7:28 p.m. will not operate, and three pairs of New Haven Line Trains will be combined.

Also the 6:15 p.m. departure from Hoboken on the Port Jervis Line will not operate, nor will the 7:20 p.m. departure from Hoboken to Spring Valley on the Pascack Valley Line.

For Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4, Metro-North will operate on regular weekend schedules.
