Museum Day: Free Admission At These New York Museums Saturday

Snag a free ticket to visit one of these New York museums on Saturday. Here's how.

If you’re looking for a fun and free activity for the weekend, consider a trip to one of New York’s museums. Saturday, Sept. 22 is “Museum Day” and admission to more than 1,500 museums in the country, including 104 in New York, is free.

“Museum Day” is an annual event put together by the Smithsonian Magazine and includes participating museums in all 50 states. According to the Smithsonian, participants can download one ticket per email address that provides free general admission for two people.

“Museum Day” is a one-day event only. To snag a ticket, just choose your New York museum from the list on this page.

Some of the participating museums in New York include the 9/11 Tribute Museum in New York City, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum in the Bronx, Coe Hall in Oyster Bay, Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame in Goshen, Hofstra University Museum in Hempstead, Hudson Highlands Nature Museum: Wildlife Education Center in Cornwall-on-Hudson, Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville, Nassau County Museum of Art in Roslyn Harbor and the Heckscher Museum of Art in Huntington.
