New Location For Today's Mamaroneck 9/11 Ceremony

Breaking: Sunday's ceremony has been moved to a new location, due to inclement weather.

The September 11th Commemoration Ceremony scheduled for today at 5 p.m. will go on, but the location has changed due to the inclement weather. The ceremony will be held in Memorial Park at the Murray Avenue Underpass.

MAMARONECK, NY — The Town of Mamaroneck, along with its neighboring municipalities, will still host a special 9/11 anniversary memorial ceremony, but the location has been changed from the original location.

Update from Town of Mamaroneck at 3:30 p.m. on 9/11/22: "The September 11th Commemoration Ceremony scheduled for today at 5 p.m. is ON but please note the location change due to the inclement weather. The ceremony will be held in Memorial Park at the Murray Avenue Underpass. Thank you. All are welcome."

The Town of Mamaroneck, along with the Village of Mamaroneck and the Village of Larchmont, will hold the annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on September 11, at 5 p.m.

The event marking more two decades since the terror attacks of September 11, is being touted as "an opportunity for the community to gather together in a cooperative spirit of support and remembrance."

Participants will include members of the Fire and Police Departments of the Town of Mamaroneck and Villages of Mamaroneck and Larchmont, the Mamaroneck EMS, the Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Corp, veterans, members of the clergy, local Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, and public officials. All in the community are welcome to attend.

Hundreds of people have attended the event which is usually hosted by the Town of Mamaroneck at "Girl Scout Rock" in Memorial Park each year on September 11, since 2002. The Girl Scouts created the September 11th Memorial which lists the names of those Larchmont-Mamaroneck community members who were lost on the infamously tragic day.
