New Pop-Up Shop Opening Inside New Rochelle Train Station
Make Your Mark[et] will feature diverse group of 20 local makers
Beginning right after Thanksgiving, New Rochelle’s historic train station will come alive with the hustle and bustle of holiday shoppers discovering the work of more than 20 local makers including BiPOC, Latine, AAPI, and female founders.
The only “maker space” sited inside a train station in Westchester, Make Your Mark[et], New Rochelle (https://www.adzineny.com/make-your-market) is the brainchild of Melissa Panszi Riebe, a Latine jewelry designer and founder of A D’Zine (www.adzineny.com). With the support of the New Rochelle’s Department of Development, Panszi Riebe has created a pop-up maker shop that will operate daily between November 25th and December 16th inside the New Rochelle train station, in space formerly occupied by a coffee stand. The pop-up shop will bookend the New Rochelle’s Holiday Market (December 2nd through December 11th).
“I have curated this indoor shop to be the one-stop spot for all your gift giving needs, with more than twenty makers’ creations in one store,” says Panszi Riebe. She says Make Your Mark[et], New Rochelle will offer a mix of “great teacher gifts, teen gifts, gifts for the person who is hard to buy for-- and more. You can also come in and put together a customized basket with baskets available for sale on premises.”

Panszi Riebe says she focused on featuring BiPOC, Latine, AAPI, and women-owned businesses: “It was important to me to have a shop that represented all people,” she explains. “The idea of shopping local is not just a trend, but a local economic engine that strengthens communities because it keeps your dollars in your community.”
Among the items on sale will be interactive art work by Benjis of Brooklyn, funky graphic socks, vintage radios converted into blue tooth speakers, one-of-a-kind jewelry, candles, pet gifts, clothing, and more. Customers can visit the site to buy in person, or shop ahead online for local pick up. (https://www.adzineny.com/new-page-2)
