New Rochelle OKs 2019-20 School Budget

Voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide on school budgets and board members.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Voters in the New Rochelle school district approved the $281 million budget for the 2019-20 school year. According to unofficial results, the budget was approved 2,232 to 1,122.

The budget was 3.95 percent more than the current spending plan and the tax levy increase was 2.2 percent, which was within the state mandated tax cap.

Five candidates were vying for two seats on the board of education. The winners were William Iannuzzi and Valarie D. Williams. Also on the ballot were Rich Bamberger, Peter J. Cantone and Vincent J. Malfetano.
