NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A three-alarm fire at a high-rise apartment building downtown left dozens of families without a roof over their heads and in need of basic necessities.
Fighting the fire, which is believed to have started on the third floor before 5 a.m., required assistance and coverage from neighboring firehouses, including Mamaroneck and Larchmont. Residents were evacuated and the blaze was quickly extinguished.
No serious injuries were reported, but one resident and one fireman were treated at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.
