New Rochelle College Student Indicted In Killing Of 'Moneygang Vontae'
Four men have so far been indicted for the June 9 murder of the 27-y.o., LA-based drill rapper, whose real name is Avanti Frowner.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — An 18-year-old Monroe College student from the New Rochelle campus is among those accused of murdering a rap star in the Bronx.
Four men were indicted for murder and additional charges in the fatal shooting of 27-year-old, LA-based rapper, Avanti Frowner, a/k/a "Moneygang Vontae," as he left a Bronx pharmacy, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced.
"The defendants allegedly attacked two men, robbing them of money, their phones, and jewelry," Clark said. "One of the men, Avanti Frowner, 'Moneygang Vontae,' was in New York to perform, and needed medication at a pharmacy. He was shot and killed in this senseless crime."

The DA said that Isiah Garrett, 24, of the Bronx was charged with first-degree murder, while he and defendants, River Jones, 18, of New Rochelle, Allan Algarin, 23, of the Bronx, and Nayshon White, 25, of the Bronx were charged with two counts of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree robbery, first-degree gang assault, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Jones and Garrett were arraigned on August 9 before Bronx Supreme Court Justice George Villegas, and the other defendants were previously arraigned. All four defendants remain in custody and are due back in court on October 26.

On June 9, shortly before 2 p.m., outside the Amazing Pharmacy at 595 East Tremont Ave. in the Crotona section of the Bronx, the defendants, excluding Jones, and a fifth man not yet apprehended, allegedly approached Avanti Frowner, along with his friend outside of the pharmacy where Frowner had just purchased eye drops, and robbed the two of jewelry and cell phones, investigators said. Frowner was beaten to the ground as all four defendants allegedly tried to rob him of his watch and money, officials said.
During the robbery, Frowner was forced into the pharmacy at gunpoint and shot multiple times in the torso by Isiah Garrett, police said. Frowner was taken to the hospital, where he died.

The address listed for River Jones, 380 Main St., is a Monroe College mixed-use building with dorm rooms for 300 students, the main dining hall, classrooms, offices and an outdoor courtyard.
Police told the Daily News that River Jones was arrested by the NYPD's Bronx Warrants Squad in his Monroe College dorm room on June 22.
Isiah Garrett, Allan Algarin and Nayshon White fled to Georgia and were captured together. Police are still searching for the fifth suspect.
