New Rochelle Community Invited To Volunteer For '9/11: Serve + Remember'

In 2016, more than 1,300 local volunteers contributed more than 2,000 hours.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — Each year, Volunteer New York! and Westchester County honors the lives of those lost or forever changed by the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001, with a day of service called 9/11: Serve + Remember. This year several projects will benefit local New Rochelle nonprofits and will take place in the city from Saturday, Sept. 9 through Monday, Sept. 11. To see the list and register for these events, go here or call 914-948-4452.

New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson said this is an opportunity for the community to come together in unity, determination and remembrance. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

“Whether you are making literacy kits for underprivileged children, engaging with senior citizens, helping to restore the Boys & Girls Club or volunteering for the fifth annual New Rochelle Street Fair, we can all do our part to build a stronger community in which everybody counts,” he said.
