New Rochelle Farmers Market Finds a New Location for 2018 Season

Local farms and food makers return to downtown

On Friday, June 1st, the New Rochelle Farmers Market will open for its 10th season, but in a new location outside City Hall at 515 North Avenue. The market will be held every Friday from 8:30am to 2:30pm through November 16th. The farmers market will continue its tradition of highlighting New York area growers and artisan food makers with the mission of bringing wholesome and delicious foods to New Rochelle shoppers and supporting local small farms and food businesses.

The New Rochelle Farmers Market is a grower-producer market, meaning that vendors must be farmers or make food with ingredients purchased from local farms. The few exceptions to this rule are olive oil, chocolate and coffee vendors who are able to document their sourcing. This season, shoppers can look forward to a wide variety of fruits and vegetables from area farms, including Certified Organic produce from Maitri Farm in Amenia, NY. Alex’s Tomato Farm of Sprakers, NY and Dagele Brothers Produce of Florida, NY will return with vegetables and orchard fruits. PickleLicious will bring their range of pickles, sauerkrauts and more, Meredith’s Country Bakery will have traditional and gluten-free baked goods, Arlotta Food Studio will have kosher, organic California olive oils and Wave Hill Breads will bring European style loaves and pastries. New this year are Adirondack Fragrance & Flavor Farm with naturally-scented candles and personal care products and Storytime Foods with ready-to-eat sweet and savory pastries. The full schedule of shopper favorites and new vendors attending this year is available at www.downtoearthmarkets.com.

With its new location at City Hall, Down to Earth Markets hopes to make the New Rochelle Farmers Market a convenient spot to enjoy lunch outdoors and pick up the ingredients for weekend meals. Shoppers can stay up to date on vendor schedules, the planned lunchtime concert series and market events by signing up for the email newsletter via the Down to Earth Markets website or by following the New Rochelle Farmers Market on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/newrochellefarmersmarket/).
