New Rochelle Man Accused Of Strangling, Killing Mother
Police said the man's mother was taken off of life support and was declared dead.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle man who was accused of strangling his mother was arraigned Friday.
Daniel Flores Arteaga, 26, of New Rochelle, was charged with one count of second-degree murder, a felony, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr.
Arteaga's next court appearance will be Nov. 30.

Authorities said, around 1:30 p.m. March 17, New Rochelle police went to a home on Second Street for a report of a son attacking his mother.
They said they found Arteaga in the home with his mother unconscious on the floor.

Prosecutors said Arteaga later told police he had strangled his mother.
Maria Arteaga was taken to the hospital where she was placed on life support. She was removed from life support March 26 and was pronounced dead.
At the time of his arrest in March, he was charged with second-degree attempted murder, a felony.
