New Rochelle Man Accused Of Strangling Mother

The man's mother was found unconscious on the floor, police said.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle man was accused of trying to kill his elderly mother. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Daniel Flores Arteaga, 25, of New Rochelle, was arraigned and charged with second-degree attempted murder, a felony.

Bail was set at $250,000 cash, $2.5 million bond or $2.4 million partially secured bond alternative with a required 10 percent down.

His next court appearance is set for April 1.

Police said, around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a home on Second Street in New Rochelle for a call about a son attacking his mother.

Arteaga was found at the residence, with his badly injured mother unconscious on the floor, police said.

Police said they believed Arteaga strangled his mother until she passed out.

The woman was rushed to the hospital where she remains on life support, police said.
