New Rochelle Man Admits To Stealing Credit Cards From Gym Lockers

Authorities said he used the credit cards to buy almost $9,000 worth of merchandise.

NEW ROCHELLE , NY — A New Rochelle man admitted in court to stealing credit cards last year from sports club gym lockers. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Wednesday that Ivan Vrabec, 49, of New Rochelle, pleaded guilty to first-degree identity theft.

Vrabec was charged in two different incidents, authorities said.

For the first, on Dec. 14, Vrabec stole a credit card from the men's locker room at the New York Sports Club in Dobbs Ferry, police said.

He opened the combination lock on the victim's locker and put it back on without the victim knowing someone had broken in.

Vrabec used the victim's stolen credit card to purchase more than $660 worth of wine from the Westchester Wine Warehouse in Greenburgh.

The second incident occurred on or around the same date, police said. Vrabec admitted using a stolen credit card belonging to a Hastings-on-Hudson resident to buy high-end designer goods valued at more than $8,000.

The district attorney's office said Vrabec's guilty plea covers both incidents.

He had originally been arraigned for second-degree identity theft and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.

Vrabec is scheduled for sentencing Jan. 15.
