New Rochelle Man Arrested For Drunk Driving: Police

Police said his blood alcohol content was almost three times the legal limit.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A New Rochelle man was arrested in Yonkers for driving drunk on I-87.

State Police said Robert D. Matthews, 35, of New Rochelle, was stopped around 7:50 p.m. March 27 for a traffic violation on I-87.

He was allegedly intoxicated and was taken into custody.

Matthews was processed at the Tarrytown barracks where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.22 percent.

He was subsequently charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

Matthews was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets.

He is scheduled to appear in the City of Yonkers Court May 11.
