New Rochelle Man Pleads To Attempted Burglaries
At the time of his arrest, the man was on parole for attempted burglary.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — A man who was accused of trying to burglarize homes in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon admitted his guilt in court Friday. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Trey McDowell, 31, of New Rochelle, pleaded guilty, as a persistent violent felony offender, to two counts of second-degree attempted burglary, felonies.
He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 30.
After a series of New Rochelle home burglaries in 2018, the New Rochelle police identified McDowell and the red Honda Accord he used and began surveillance of him.

During that time, the Mount Vernon police identified the red Accord as having been used in a burglary in Mount Vernon in November.
On Jan. 2, New Rochelle police found the red Accord outside an apartment building and saw McDowell inside the victim's apartment closing a window.

Police saw him leave the building, get into the Accord and drive away.
Shortly thereafter, police pulled McDowell over and found the victim's property in his vehicle and on him.
He was arrested and subsequently indicted for the two burglaries.
In addition to being a serial burglar, McDowell was previously convicted of three violent felony offenses in Westchester County and New York City.
At the time of his most recent arrest, he was on parole for a 2013 second-degree attempted robbery in Yonkers.
