New Rochelle Man Receives 9-Year Sentence for Child Sex Assault

The sex abuse took place over more than a year.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - A 24-year-old New Rochelle man was sentenced Tuesday for sexually assaulting a child.

Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty announced that Yordy Lopez of North Avenue was sentenced to nine years in state prison after pleading guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony.

McCarty said that over a period between September 1, 2010, and November 30, 2011, Lopez sexually assaulted a female child who was 8 to 9 years old.

The assault involved multiple acts of sexual abuse and rape.

An investigation by the New Rochelle Police Department and Special Prosecutions Division of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office led to the arrest of Lopez April 15, 2015.

Besides the prison sentence, he will be required to go through 15 years post release supervision.
