New Rochelle PD To Hold Annual Memorial, Awards Ceremony

Three elementary students will receive awards for their winning Police Memorial Essays.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — To coincide with National Police Week, which is May 14-20, the New Rochelle Police Department will host its annual Memorial & Awards Ceremony at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 17 at the Greentree Country Club. City officials, law enforcement officials, and families will gather Wednesday morning to pay tribute to NRPD officers who lost their lives in the line of duty and recognize the accomplishments of over 100 members of the department.

Three New Rochelle elementary students will receive awards for their winning Police Memorial Essays, according to a city spokeswoman.

This year’s keynote speaker will be retired NYC Homicide Detective Randy Jurgensen, who is best known as the lead investigator into the murder of NYPD Patrolman Phil Cardillo.

He is also the recipient of the Gold Shield for breaking a case that became known as the Bag Murders.

Today Jurgensen is involved in movie making, producing, and acting, and is the author of Circle of Six, a book written about Cardillo’s murder.

The Greentree Country Club is located at 538 Davenport Ave. in New Rochelle.
