New Rochelle Police Identify Suspect In Heritage House Fatal Shooting

Breaking: Fugitive Mtayari Z. Dixon is wanted for murder in connection to the Oct. 26 shooting, according to police.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — New Rochelle police have identified a suspect and obtained an arrest warrant in connection to the homicide on October 26 at Horton Avenue and Colonel Lee Archer Boulevard.

Police are looking for Mtayari Z. Dixon, 29 years of age, formerly from New Rochelle, but currently known to reside in Stamford. The arrest warrant calls for "full extradition from any U.S. State."

James Caldwell Jr. was killed in the daylight shooting at the Heritage Homes.

Shortly before 6 p.m., the New Rochelle Police Department started to get reports of shots fired and a person shot. Police found Caldwell at the scene, on the ground, with multiple gunshot wounds. New Rochelle police, fire and ambulance personnel administered first aid and he was rushed to a local hospital, but Caldwell eventually died from his wounds.
